How to Meditate By Different Methods

Traditional meditation can be as simple as sitting on the ground cross-legged or laying down on your back with your eyes closed and letting your thoughts slip away as you listen to lack of noise. In the still of the silence, you may still hear background noise. Perhaps you may hear a next-door neighbor’s murmurs, a dog’s bark, the clock’s tick, or the refrigerator running. Try to be as still as possible and let your thoughts vanish away. Over time, you are likely to get better at having your racing thoughts deter. There are alternate ways to meditate, of course. With a variety of different musical works, you can play some piano, classical, trance, symphony, reggae, sound effect, or other meditation music in the background. Some people light incense or candles and sit around them to smell the aroma, releasing their conflicting thoughts and finding their center amidst the calm surrounding energy. Others will read books on spirituality, meditation, astral projection, religious books, or fellowship works. Writing and journaling is another way used as a release for meditation. Creating collages, painting, drawing, sketching, and making other pieces of artwork are alternatives as a way to learn to meditate.

Whichever way you choose, deciding to learn to meditate can prove beneficial in your life by providing you relief from daily stress. Meditation can be a great coping skill that also heightens your level of self-awareness and allows you to be present in the moment you are living in.
